Two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as two-step verification or dual-factor authentication, is a robust security measure that enhances the authentication process by requiring users to provide two distinct authentication factors to verify their identity.
The implementation of 2FA aims to significantly bolster the protection of both user credentials and the resources they can access. By requiring two different authentication factors, 2FA offers a higher level of security compared to single-factor authentication (SFA), which typically relies on a single factor, such as a password or passcode.
In the two-factor authentication process, users first provide a password as the initial factor. However, to successfully authenticate, they must also provide a second factor, which is different from the password. This second factor typically takes the form of a security token or a biometric factor, such as a fingerprint or facial scan.
Below are the steps on how to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for the client area:
Step 1: Log in to your client area.
Step 2: Locate the upper right side of the screen and click on the downward arrow next to your name.
Step 3: From the dropdown menu, select "Security Settings" and click on it.
Step 4: In the "Security Settings" section, find the "Two-Factor Authentication" option and click on the "Click here to Enable" button to activate 2FA for your client area.
Step 5: A window titled "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" will appear. Either select the "Time Based Tokens" option or the Email Two-Factor Authentication, then click on the "Get Started" button.
Step 6: If using - Time Based Tokens - In the "Connect your app" window, use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator to scan the provided QR code.
Step 7: Enter the 6-digit code generated by the authenticator app into the "Enter authentication code" field.
Step 8: After entering the code, click the Submit button, and you will receive a confirmation message stating that Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled.
Step 9: Copy the code provided under the "Backup code" section and securely store it. This code will serve as a backup method to access your account if you are unable to complete the two-factor authentication process. Click the "Close" button to close the window.
Step 10: You will notice that Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled for your client account.
