How do I license my Vmware ESXi Trial installation?

If you have requested Vmware as the base operating system on your dedicated server for Virtualisation, we will always install a trial of the latest version of ESXi.

This will begin the 90 day Trial Period of this software.

When the trial is over you have the option to either purchase a full license for the product (which will enable you to continue to use the advanced features of ESXi), or to request a free license (with limited capabilities).

FREE License

If you decide to use the Free Licence, you will need to browse to the below URL and register. Once you log in, you will be able to see your Free Edition License Key.

https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=free-esxi5&lp=default&src=ie9tr

Once you have this, you need to connect to your server using vSphere Client and click onto the Configuration Tab.

Under Software | Licensed Features select Edit on the right and Assign a new License Key to enter your key.

PAID License

As above, once you have purchased your license from http://vmware.com you will need to apply by connecting to your server using vSphere Client and click onto the Configuration Tab.

Under Software | Licensed Features select Edit on the right and Assign a new License Key to enter your key.
