How do I configure my IMAP mail account with Outlook 2007?

Step 1
First, you need to add the mail account via your Control Panel.

Step 2
Once you have created a mail account in your Control panel, open Outlook 2007 and choose the Tools menu, then Accounts Settings.

Step 3
Click on New on the email tab.

Step 4
Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types checkbox and then click on Next.

Step 5
Select Internet E-mail and click on Next.

Step 6
Next we need to enter email settings as follows: 

        Your Name : Enter the name you want to have displayed when you send mail to someone 

        Email-address : enter your full e-mail address you wish to appear in the From part of your e-mails. Usually, this is your full e-mail address (such as

        Account Type : IMAP

        Incoming mail server : mail.yourdomain_name OR

        Outgoing mail server : mail.yourdomain_name OR

        Username : Full email address set up in the control panel

        Password : Password you set when you created the account in your Control Panel

Once you have entered your details click More Settings

Step 7
Select the Outgoing Server tab. Tick the box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and keep the option Use same settings as my incoming mail server as selected.

Step 8
Select the Connection tab. Here choose your connection method. If you are using a dialup service to connect to the Internet, choose "Connect using my phone line" Choose LAN if you are using a Local Area Network set up at your home or office.

Step 9
Select the Advanced tab. Enter the port number for incoming IMAP server as 143 (if you are not using SSL) or 993 (if you are using SSL).

Step 10
Enter the port number for outgoing SMTP server as 25 or 1045 (if you are not using SSL) or 465 (if you are using SSL)

Step 11
Click the OK button to save your settings.

Step 12
Now you can click the Test Account Settings button to verify that the e-mail account can send and receive mail. 

Step 13
If the part of the test fails, go through the previous steps and double-check all of your settings in Outlook. If the test is successful, click the Close button.

Step 14
Click the Next button.

Click the Finish button.
